Normally I find if a fuse is missing it has been taken out for a reason , maybe the wipers where coming on on there own with no rain or lights coming on in the day light or something ,but if you have already changed the sensor you may of eradicated the original fault doing so , just some thoughts ...

It's had a screen before me owning it so perhaps they removed the fuse to not upset something or disconnecting something perhaps. Being an a8 they might not have wanted to take the battery off to change the sensor and all that. Not sure but everything works spot on, haven't tested the rain sensor yet but the lights work now.

Maybe the old sensor was faulty and that's why the fuse was pulled.
