Very odd tyre wear
My D3 had an advisory for both front tyres being worn on the inside.
This evening i decided to check it out, and the wear is very odd which I'll describe for now as its too dark to get a good picture. The inside edge on both the fronts have what feels like a step, I could guess alignment issue but this step does not go all the way around. Some places are more pronounced than others. Car has just been MOT'd and no issues were found with the bushes, and there are no clonks and bangs at all as you drive. The attached image is from the internet, is kind of like what I have but it does not go all the way around. Image from wheelsinmotion forum. I must point out that I did have the OSF front wheel straightened out after I was made aware it was out of round, but this was some time ago. There is no vibration through the steering when driving. Really don't know, I need new tyres but I don't want the same to happen again so want thoughts first.

That's really bad. I would check for any wear in the suspension arm bushes and replace any with split rubbers or loose balljoints and then have a 4 wheel alignment check and see what that throws up. Are you sure it's not catching on anything like the bottom of the arch-liner in front of the wheel blowing back at speeds?

Camber out by a few degrees could cause that sort of wear, find someone who knows how to set the geometry properly

I'll post some pics up tomorrow of the actual issue.
If the wheel was slightly out of round or not running straight I guess that may cause this? Remember that on mine its not all the way round but in patches. Tomorrow I'll change the one that was straightened out for the spare as the passenger side is not so bad. Maybe worth mentioning they have covered 23K miles.

What make tyre is it manno? Sometimes the tyre will go out of round slighty and cause uneven wear but not enough to cause a bump through the steering. Have it 4 way'd and take it from there.

By the time they get that worn, it is often uneven around the circumference, probably just the way the rubber is wound around the carcass unevenly (joints, overlap etc..). Tyres have many layers wire, fabrics and rubber and sub-rubber.

Took the car to the local tyre place, they think its possibly the tyres rather than anything else.
Tomorrow it goes in for two new tyres and a full 4 wheel alignment, at least that should highlight any geometry issues. I've gone for budget tyres, if only to see if they wear oddly and if they do I've not thrown to much money down the drain and will have to check out the rest of the suspension.

New tyres now fitted and alignment corrected. it was out slightly, although I remain unconvinced.
The before figures on the front were NSF Toe 0.17, Camber -1.08 OSF Toe 0.06, Camber -0.17 NSR Toe 0.22, Camber -1.05 OSR Toe 0.07, Camber -0.42 The current figures NSF Toe 0.08, Camber -1.08 OSF Toe 0.08, Camber -0.17 NSR Toe 0.14, Camber -1.08 OSR Toe 0.13, Camber -0.44 Will see how it drives.

Just found this thread. Not sure if connected but I had an issue with both front tyres worn through to the threads on the inner side wall just below the corner. Caused a sudden deflation as the wear wasn't visible looking at the tread. I replaced both fronts and had full 4 wheel tracking but a year later had the same issue again with a sudden deflation. The car drives normally and tracks straight hands off. I have read that the square speed humps can wear inner shoulders if you straddle them, which is tempting in the 8 asyou can almost get a wheel either side but given how tiny a fraction bumps represent of mileage is this possible?
I have fitted 18 inch rims replacing 19 originally fitted to the car, could this have anything to do with it?
