Default Faint buzzing noise coming from the rear.

A few months back I noticed a faint buzzing sound whilst sitting in the back. Now that I know the sound I can always hear it whilst in the drivers seat.

I notice the buzzing sound starts at around 58-60mph.

The pitch of the buzz increases with speed.

The buzz sound doesn't change when the road surface changes. It's a very consistent sound.

I have read around and gathered that is could be the tyres, wheel bearings or fuel pump.

What are your thoughts?

It could be.. If the noise gets worse or better when you turn left or right, then id' suspect a bearing. Could be tyre noise.

Or... it could be wind noise somewhere.. check the seals, etc.

Took it to a garage today. Mechanic came for a test drive. He couldn't hear the noise. Had it put on the lift and inspected underneath. No leaks.

They didn't even charge me!

I do need to replace front tyres.

Could front tyre noise resonate through the car to the point it sounds like it's coming from the rear?
