Default It's a Beetle Jim, but not as we know it..

Embedded video explains all, and is well worth a watch

So being as Beetle's were already air cooled and the heating was fairly crap in them, how the heck do you heat the interior of that one in the depths of winter? Electric elements?

Good question Lee (you clearly know your Beetles ): that wasn't covered by the video, but I asked the guy who built this about that very point, and he confirmed that they fit a separate electric heater - which works off the batteries, of course - to take care of that historical heating issue.

I drove once from Weston-s-Mare to LDN in the winter and my Beatle only started to heat up when I slowed because of the LDN traffic! I was wiping the condensation from the inside of the windscreen the entire journey! Started first time every time in the winter though!

Great article though. I'd have it.

It's typical of that type of EV conversion using off the shelf components.
160km range - so city commutes only, with Range Anxiety if you go anywhere near it's max range (especially if running the heater, which you will most of the time!).
Wonder what sort of heater it runs? I would think an a/c system would be more efficient than a hot wire type - either are power drains on the 22kWh battery.

Still 30kW and under 10sec is better than its donor car could manage new! Not all that impressive to me though...

It's no Tesla. And off the shelf technology still has a long way to go... Might be alright for my 2 mile commute to work though!
