s tronic?!
I went out in a 2009 S4 today with an S tronic box.
My god is that gearbox something! Kinda made me wonder what the ole D2 would be like with a modern box, im pretty sure with a shorter ratio box and 2 more gears, it would shift off the line like an animal, and pick up a bit better. Anyone know if its been done? Be an interesting read. |

The S-Tronic box is the same as the DSG box found in Skoda and VW cars, its basically a manual gearbox with double clutches and the whole thing is controlled by a complex ECU.
Its a great box, my last Skoda had the same gearbox. Not sure you could even contemplate a retrofit as you would have to change way to much to be cost effective.

It's a great box, though not without its foibles. That's what I have in the A7, couple of funnies on stop-start stuff, but it does go like a stabbed rat, giving the 3.0tfsi a 5s 0-60 time
