Skoda had a great reputation for their machinery - the cars were a product of the era

Still got a copy of Modern Metal Cutting from my uni days!

I did some work in a factory in Birmingham who supposedly had the biggest lathes in Europe, they where for making prop shafts in submarines and the like, they where massive and had two motors like small cars if memory serves me correctly, it was fascinating watching them turn the fresh steel and then pulling out the finished artical, the lathes where made by some polish company, I couldn't take pictures though as it was MOD building, I sit in awe in the place as I have a fascination in metal working and engineering
