Default Centre crossflow box removal

Afternoon all,

I thought today I would treat myself and my 4.2 FSi V8 A8 to a centre box removal.

I took the car to my local powerflow centre (which I used for my UR quattro with very good results) and told them what I wanted which was more of the V8 throaty rumble to be unleashed but not at the detriment to motorway speed drone.

90 mins later I had this in place of my crossflow box (which is now available should anyone need one):

So far I'm very happy with the results, only the smallest amount louder at idle but as soon as you blip the throttle the exhaust tone comes to life & there's a much nicer sound under load in lower gears.

I have a feeling I'll be downsizing the rear boxes in a few months time to liberate a bit more of the idle burble that I'm looking for but for now I'm happy.

All done for £180!

Amazed that the car came with 5 silencers!

Mine was done at Southampton tyre and wheel in Totton, really nice guy who owns it, all tailored to your spec. I've had a day with it now and I love the sound.

Almost as quiet as stock when idling but incredible when free revving.

Only thing the guy said was the unusual pipe diameter which is 61mm, not great when his clamps were 57mm and 64mm! Ended up special ordering them in. All good in the end though!
