Default 4.2 TDi Fuel Filter

Attempted to change the fuel filter on my 2006MY 4.2 TDi - but having an issue getting the valve on top of the fuel filter to click in place in order to secure it with the clip.

I have put the old one back on at the moment- that require a moderate force to get it to click down, but the new one doesn't seem to want to click.

Anyone any tips? Or come across this before?

Charlie

Try putting a bit of new engine oil on it if you haven't already. I think the cold weather makes it stiffer too. Try with a hot engine and put the new one on the radiator. Also fill it with clean new diesel first.

Thanks Snapdragon- I'll give that a go.

I have previous for breaking plastic engine parts, just didn't want to push it too much - the cold, makes sense.
