Gruven arms (which I have fitted) haven't been that good in my experience, as one keeps popping off (rhs facing engine). In Gruven's defense they did offer to replace the offending arm if it kept happening - I must get back in touch...
In fairness, that arm does not sit at 90° between the vac actuator and flap lever with the flap lever about 5mm or so to the rear of the horizontal plane across the manifold. The forward trust this induces on it may be contributing to the arm popping off the flap lever.

The best arms I've seen yet are the Polish eBay metal ones with the spring lock ball cups. You can make your own to a similar design too.
I thought that the problem with the Gruven / Polish metal arms was that they have been designed as plastic by audi to snap if the manifold flaps get stuck or seize, so that less damage is done and the whole lot isnt toast?

I reckon it was an accountants decision - "how small can we make it and still have it do the job (at least for a little while)."
"Oh, and while we're at it - make sure the punters can't buy the arms separately as a spare part"...

There's nothing wrong with my flaps! Yet both my arms were broken when I bought it!
The vacuum pods (~3" dia) put about 105lbs (48kg) of force on the arms at a vacuum of around 22inMg = 11psi (at ISA).
That's not a lot.
I can (just) pull against the vacuum of the pods to put my arm back on the flap lever at idle without shutting the engine down.

22inMg is stated as minimum manifold vacuum achieved by "an engine in good condition" by Motor.com.

Found these too if anyone needs link rods.
Perhaps a better solution than the Polish ones.
OEM look with better strength:

I stumbled upon those link rods too while Googling the repair kit part number. Or rather I stumbled upon this video, which seems to be promoting the same link rods:

I have the Gruven parts on the car but I think I might order a pair of those Delrin link rods to replace the OEM ones on my spare manifold.

I bought these from Poland a couple years ago and they’re still going strong.

Spotted these from Germany which are even cheaper.

Add some lube to the metal ones - high temp bearing or CV grease should work nicely.
