How will I find out exact colour name?
Does anyone have access to an Audi parts computer that would allow me to find the exact name for the colour of my S8. This may sound a strange request, but the colour code is not enough, it seems.
I've searched my paperwork and it appears the code is definitely LZ5K from the registration documents - which matches up to Santorin Blue. I've cross-referenced a database of paint colours and there is only seemingly one variant which they did use at that time. http://paintref.com/cgi-bin/paintdetail.cgi?ppg=190749 However, the code LZ5K has two names of paint that relate to that code. Here is the reply from the paint dealer "On the PPG Deltron there is only one shade no variation codes. What I need from you is whether the colour name is spelt santorini blue or SantorinBlau? There is no real difference in the colours excrpt the type of white tiny that goes into the paint. The colour codes are the same. My advice to you is call Audi dealers and give them your registration no. they will provide you with the code but ask them to spell the name of the paint to you, that way we can pin point the type of white tint we need." So, any ideas or will I really have to ring up the dealers? |

Easiest way would be to sign up with 'your audi' https://www.audi.co.uk/youraudi/your.../account/login
As soon as you register your number plate, it gives you basic details about your car, including the colour name, model and engine. |

It told me my car is green! That's all, I thought it would be better than that!

Ah, that sounds like you may have an Audi Exclusive colour that they haven't got around to naming.

It looks like LZ5K Santorin Blue, same as the wife's A4.

That site says my old Santorin Blue D2 is Azure Blue which it certainly was not.
For my current D3 it simply says Silver.

The paint manufacter rang up the HQ and discovered that Santorini blue is for the South African market, whereas SantorinBlau is for Europe. So, paint ordered and all (should be) well.
Arrives tomorrow |
