Default Advise on A8L spec options for potential purchases

Hi all,
Going to keep coming back to the collective pool of sound knowledge and advice if thats ok please?

As I'm searching to replace my 2009 8L I am amazed by how few have the individual electric rear seats. Were they a more unusual option as I presumed they were standard spec with the 8L??

Likewise, parking camera??

Soft close doors??

Sorry, just trying to gauge the value of mine and its likely replacement.

If anybody has access to build sheets information . my car is LB09 OVN (later XM51 PAR)

Thanks as always, Paul

B&O blows bose away and it needs to at a £4500 option

i think you have to search autotrader and ebay daily
other wise you might miss one

this is why i keep buying mine back as i specced it new with the following
B&O
Solar sun roof
Soft close doors
Towbar
Alcantara package
TV reception
DAB
Auto boot
AMI
Heated seats x 4
Rear camera
and some !

good luck mate

ACC is a nice option to have, but I really detest those wheels. The fingerprint stop/start isn't terribly reliable from memory, so not sure if yours at the moment just has the start/stop button?

Looking at the mileage I'd be very surprised if that's got DPFs fitted still - they're good for about 100-120k generally before cleaning/replacement and many will have been cut out long before they get to that mileage. I'd want to be seeing some smoke opacity readings from the MOT and would be getting someone to follow the car on test drive to see if it's puffing black smoke.

Not sure if DPF presence can be checked with VCDS easily? You can, I think, check soot loading of the DPF but I think those who code them out do so by fooling the system into thinking it doesn't need to clean the DPFs by registering a value that doesn't change.....

if its a 4.2tdi you are looking for just remember the £585 annual tax soon set to rise to nearer £1000 if gretta grumbleberger has her way roberto

a facelift sport would give you the following if iremember correctly
DAB
4 ZONE CLIMATE
S8 bootlid
S8 steering
Heated front seats
S8 front drl,s
Rear LED lights

if that car was a bit cheaper i was going to strip one out for a track car with coilovers etc
also im not sure these old 4.2tdi ones had any dpf,s as i know the 3.0tdi didnt till late 2008

Facelift (58/09-onwards) brochure attached below, which is quite interesting to flick through.

The fingerprint starter is a bit of a gimmick. It sounds like a great idea (and I'm surprised it didn't catch on with other manufacturers tbh) but is unreliable and clunky in reality, and is only really useful for bragging that you have a fingerprint reader which can start your car.

Solar sunroof, again, is a nice option but I personally didn't find it terribly effective when it came to it's only purpose -- I think I'd prefer a glass sunroof if looking for a D3 again. The UV-reflective glass and rear/side blinds seemed to do a better job of keeping the car from getting extremely hot in the sun.

B&O is fantastic and the improvements over Bose are vast. It's definitely worth finding a car with it spec'd.

The D3's ACC is quite primitive but I was a fan of it on mine. 4 pre-set distances, and it worked well apart from the odd time in very heavy rain with lots of spray, and obviously snow, when an error message flashed up and told you that the sensor is blocked. Fancy cars such as the Porsche Cayenne have heated radar cruise control covers to prevent this.

Don't bother with massage seats, they're crap. Ventilated seats are quite pleasant if it has it them spec'd, but don't base your search around them.

Soft-close doors are a nice option, only standard on S8/W12.

The only other difference apart from the ones mentioned it 3G MMI. This has a better screen and newer maps which I believe you can still update. It also has a HDD
