FL rear bumper plastic lower half
just trying to tidy my new toy
the swivelling trailer socket was rusted solid in the up position , and some numpty who presumably couldn't afford an aerosol of WD40 took a hacksaw to the plastic and cut a lump out so as to be able to plug in !!! yes really  I presume there is no way to repair this [ haven't got the missing piece ] , so I suppose I will have to try and source a new part ; there are plenty of complete bumpers about [ out of my budget ] , but haven't seen the plastic lower bit on it's own as yet ...any ideas anyone? question is ..what years am I looking for ....are PF and FL the same ? presumably later cars are different Last edited by oldnick; 21st November 2012 at 02:46 PM.

thanks fellows , judging by the prices quoted I'm going to be looking a while !
checked the fleabay links one at £125 looks right BUT says it is PF , says is scratched AND has a chunk cut out of the plastic as well ; so worse than what I have !! the other , at £250 , says FL , but has a piece missing ! no mention of reversing sensors in either case

addendum
begins to look as though the 2 piece [ upper and lower ] is the later version but the change over date doesn't seem to be related to the FL introduction , it is quoted as various dates from 1996 onwards! but the real bummer I found in a post by ...The_Laird ....re fitting a towbar , in which he says that even if it is fitted with the OE towbar [ yes, it is by wesfalia ] you have to cut a bit out of the bumper cover anyway because the swan neck doesn't pass low enough! clearly my man has just butchered it a bit more!

clicking on quote doesn't seem to work !
does this apply to both the one piece AND the two piece bumper covers ? seems that TL owned a 2 piece which had a bit chopped out ...hopefully he will return on the subject ; I presumed it must be a mistake when they changed the design

My 2002 2.8 had a factory-fitted detachable tow bar and had a slight cut-out on the lower bumper. When I made numerous enquiries for fitting a towbar to my S8, I was told by a few fitters that the Westfalia version did require a cut-out. But Ian is usually right!
 The one I have (make escapes me just now) does not require a cut-out but it is visible below the lower bumper.
