I have this in my bookmarks....

What version of gearbox software do you have?
You can check in VCDS it is a number like "0100"
The improved fluid the dealer sells now requires a software update on some cars.

Yes, if you do a scan of 02 it is as appears above in red.
Here are the software versions required for the newer blue (G055025?) or green (G060162A2):-
It is a bone of contention whether the upgrade is needed for green as there is no documentation one way or the other. It is for blue.

If you have older software, use the older factory-fill golden fluid.

I haven't done mine yet.
The dealer replaced 6 litres at 134,000miles
I let a specialist drop the sump and change the filter@194,000 miles, next time, I will just do a drain and flush myself, especially as the specialist probably didn't use the best ATF..

How much ATF fluid should one replace when the whole sump is removed from a D3 3.0 TDI gearbox???
Would it be wise to buy say 7 litres???

as far as im aware the whole gearbox takes 10 litres, but we only change 6 litres, unless a full drain and flush is carried out then, you will need 10 litre's.
