Unhappy S8 has lost it's water

Hi guys my s8 has lost it's water ? Any body had a problem with the oil cooler going or the pipe in the block ? Apparently common and hard to find a leak on it ?
Cheers

Hi, yes I had this problem when I first bough the car. It manifested as a mysterious coolant leak, after about 1 week coolant would be down to minimum level, with no obvious signs of leak. Finally got the whole oil cooler replaced but I think you can get just the plastic pipe on its own.
Audipages has the do it yourself guide.

http://www.audipages.com/Tech_Articl...reinstall.html

They got a company in the States to make a aluminium version of the pipe, I tried emailing them, no response. May be worth buying the plastic pipe and getting a good machinist in the UK to make you a alu version. If it breaks again on mine I'm not putting another plastic one in there, I'm going to get a alu one made.

Smile Water leak

Hi Lee,
Have just had this repair done on my 4.2 QS.
An Audi Specalist near Guildford, Surrey did it for me.
They contact details are as follows

Surreyside Autohaus
Unit 2a lynwood nurseries
Westwood lane, Guildford, Surrey GU3 2JJ, United Kingdom
07500 505 433

These guys did not charge me to find the leak. They only charged me £250 labour plus parts to do the job.
One of the links from Goran suggested it was a 7 hour job, so £250 was cheap.
If you contact them tell them that David from Wood Street Village recommended them to you via the forum.
Good luck
David

Don;t worry Lee, I will have a new one machined out of alloy, it'll be cool once done - just gutted at hw much trouble youve had with the car.
The plastic one arrives tomorrow

just found this if its not too late. Audi dont seem to sell the figure 8 seal and some other seals between oil cooler and engine block.
The guys on Audiworld have of course found a way round this, a company that sells the seals separately.
May still be ok with the old seals though, mine didnt get the new seals either as Audi wouldnt sell them separately.

http://forums.audiworld.com/showthre...t=engine+mount

"I got my oil cooler seals from these guys:

http://www.audiwholesaleparts.com/pa...?siteid=215295

They sell the "8" seal alone.
Their site is a little odd to navigate, but if you got the part #'s it's easy...you just type em in on their home page. They got every odd part you can imagine for Audis.

077 115 441 ..."8" oil seal
077-117-411-A ... Water pipe
077-121-437 ... O-ring for metal and plastic pipe (x3)

I got all of em for about $40, including shipping."

Managed to get the oil seal (the figure 8 one - was a pain so wish I'd seen this, thanks Goran!!) Did get one in the end though, found a dealer with one, well 5 as old stock - if anyone needs one let me know, they were pence so happy to give them out.
As for the plastic pipe, had a metal one made and she's all built up and tested - all good! That cooler is a pig to swap though!
I've taken a load of pictures so will post them up if interested tomorrow!
