2.5years for a CV boot.....?
All,
My offside front has split after replacing it just over 2 years ago. Seems like it hasn't lasted very long....what life should I expect from these....? It was a silicon one which I was told should last a long time....OK, shoot me for not using OEM, but I was in a desperate hurry when it last split. Cheers, Zip 2002 S8 |

I have seen some fail in less then 2 years and also seen cars over 10 years old with the original still on. It is a combination of the rubber quality, grease, use conditions and time. Cheaper lower quality rubber will dry out and crack faster, if grease contains solvents not suitable for the rubber material used it will fail faster. Higher mileage will fail faster, heat will reduce life in hot climates or because of hard braking or sticking brakes. City driving will fail faster because of more and harder turns then highway.

...ahhh, might be down to my binding front caliper that I have now fixed. That generated a LOT of heat in that wheel arch.
