Great Thread.......

I would be interested in re-mapping my gear-box....

At about 180km/h (100mph) * On Track * the box shifts up to 5th Automatum..
Plenty Revs left in 4th..... Loose momentum.... And that is in Tip Mode.....

If a re-map on the box can eliminate this I would be

Anywhere near that and I would be smiling.... If it means going the route of a V10 in a D2 then I will be going that Route.... Also keen on CAI for our local conditions.....and some Weight reduction.....

Sounds about right, tops out just over 170 in 5th.

2003 D2 FL S8. Irish Green Pearl/Beige. Solar sunroof, auto-dim mirrors, electric rear seat functions, ski hatch retrofit; extended leather. Aftermarket DVB-T, reversing camera and full XCarlink (Bluetooth etc.).
2016 Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country (4WD) with ALL the toys including adaptive cruise etc. etc. Osmium Grey with Blonde/Charcoal leather interior. Polestar performance "optimisation". (A much rarer model than a D2 S8 by the way!) Oh, and a brand new engine at just under 30,000 miles on the factory one!
Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)
1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

My PF S8 shifted into 5th at 154 indicated, 148 actual. Toped out at 168 indicated and 157 actual. darren was still pulling away from me chasing the 5 series AC Snitzer (Sp?)!

Convereter was a little wonky.... @ 112 mph changes into 5th....

After watching a bit of on track vid ..... I'm in 4th at about 5 5000 rpm and
the box auto changes into 5 th without any intervention from my side.....

So I def have a problem....

Iyole, what your describing is what happens when the engine ECU is remapped by a less experienced tuner, have you had your car remapped? If so they need to do the TCU too on cars with a tiptronic gearbox. Speak to MRC Tuning or Viper Tuning, they will be able to fix your gearbox problem as they know what they are doing and remap plenty of TCUs to suit remapped tiptronic cars, I would also speak to A8_Doc on here, although I haven't used him myself, he sounds like someone I would happily trust with my car as seems to know his stuff.

Tx for the Advice.... The car was remapped about 3 months ago and I tend to agree with your comments.... The remap was done by the only tuner that knows the Dastek Chips in my neck of the woods..... buuuut I doubt he has any knowledge of the Tiptroinic implications as he works mainly on Hot Hatches etc....

One of the problems I have in my part of the world.... nobody specializes in the type of rides we favour hence a lot of trial and error becomes the order of the day.....
and the agents are only interested in being Technicians and not Tuners/Mechanics which is understandable when your focus is selling and maintaining newer generation vehicles...

Nevertheless I will perservere regardless as I am very pendantic about having things running tip top and at it's full potential....
