Default A8 d2 2.8 2wd 2000

****NOW SOLD****

Well aware I'm addressing a knowledgeable and critical audience.....

For sale with some regret as my C4 A6 Avant is now revived ( I hope) and it's being an estate trumps the A8s undoubted charms. Two 20+ year old Audis and two 50+ year old Triumphs (plus other aging VAG tat) is too much for me.....

Audi A8 2.8 2WD Auto
Facelift model, Andorra red pearl
First registered18/04/2000, Four former keepers.
109,046 miles (actually displays 7,015 miles less due to instrument cluster change last autumn)
Considerable service history, which supports the mileage and shows the last cambelt change at 64k (08/2012) and gearbox oil and filter change at 77k (08/2014). Oil and filters last changed at 100,878 displayed (107,893 actual)
MoT to 31.07.2022

Usual A8 niceties including tilt and slide sunroof, climate control (AC working), fully electric memory seats and steering column, electric windows and electric mirrors, Bose stereo with steering wheel controls, front and rear heated seats, cruise control, auto with tiptronic function. Front and rear parking sensors. Trip computer. Dension bluetooth adapter. CD changer still present (works) but unplugged.

18" wheels from the sport model fairly recently refurbished to a good standard, with new centres and with good tyres. Matching full size spare looks unused. There is a removable tow-bar present (never used it).

Generally very tidy, presentable car. Not mint with some minor battle scars and small blemishes. Interior is in very good condition and is a very nice place to be - the seats are just superbly comfortable. (Dare I say that I prefer them to the sport seats.....)

I have been using it as my daily driver for the last year and it's been completely reliable. Drives very well. I've worked through most of the niggles it arrived with (various threads on here) and everything works with the exception of cruise control, which has become very temperamental recently due to a problem with the switch contacts in the stalk. Can always be persuaded to work eventually, but will need attention if you wish to use it more than occasionally.

Being 2WD it's a bit lighter and more economical than the more common 4WD versions. Over the last 1000 miles I've averaged just under 33 mpg in mixed driving conditions. On long, open-road runs upper 30s mpg is certainly possible and the previous owner claimed to have seen early 40s. He must have a lighter foot than me!

In summary, a nice, usable example of an always unusual and now quite rare model. It's a nice colour too.

Located in south Somerset near Taunton. Currently SORN but was in daily use up to 31/08.

Price: £ 1,750 or haggle (a bit) very hard to value.....

When was the timing belt done on it? that would be the most deciding factor as far as value.

I paid 650 for my 2.8 quattro in 2019 but it needed everything doing and I mean everything you can think of.

Timing belt was done in 2012 at 64k so in on miles, not so much on time. Gearbox service done in 2014 at 77k.
Quite a few other bits and bobs done in recent years, mainly brakes and front suspension links. Also the throttle body was renewed a few months before it came to me.

Nick
