Red face What was that?

On Monday i set off for a wee trip around the Highlands in my 'new' 2002 S8. But on starting, all the gear lights came on on the display (PRNDS all illuminated). I think it was running a bit sluggish too. Drove a mile to the petrol station, filled up and when i re-started, everything was back to normal.

I've since driven around 240 miles with no recurrence, but it always make me uneasy if this kind of thing happens.

Anyone got any idea what it might be/have been?

hmm sounds like it went into "Limp Mode" but you would need to put VAGcom onto it and see what codes it threw up to see if theres any clues. . .

Could have been a blip (maybe water or something).

Need a VAG-COM scan.. Either swing by A4Audi or let me know where you are over the next few days and I can take a look.

Is the gearbox ecu in the scuttle? Might be worth checking the drains.

PsYcHe, you're a gent! I'm in Helensburgh over the weekend. If you're at the base perhaps you could drop by for a VAG-COM and a beer?

I'm working at Robroyston, will be in Glasgow city centre around 4.30 today or could meet up next week lunchtime or after work at a venue of your choice

What a star! PsYcHe met me at lunchtime and did the scan. It diagnosed 2 pressure relief valve faults (I think) which we think unlikely, particularly as there's been no recurrence in over 300 miles. Possibly a bit of water and a tempoary short?

But also got a couple of other strange codes which I'll post shortly.

Big THANKS to PsYcHe
