Default D5 is a bit clever

D5 W12 demo vid

Some interesting tech which hopefully won't break, but you can guess how that will most likely play out.

https://youtu.be/ifoFOXRBiHM

When using remote parking, the driver got out and activated the auto-parking. Once parked the car then switched its self off and at that point activated the convenience entry/exit mode of lifting the steering wheel out of the way. Hopefully an over the air software update will fix that. Do Audi even do that?
I love the way, on shutting down, the car switches off all those rear lights

They do on the e-tron at least, but only for seems like a very small and simple set of software faults, so I don't know about this, might be unlikely.

I had a 'basic' model for a few weeks and really liked it. Would love the S8, when it's lost most of depreciation of course

Specs following the changes to emissions testing are quite challenging to fathom - to avoid having to do more tests, manufacturers have tended to produce cars to a range of option specs without giving new purchasers the choice to pick and choose the ones they want

Basically it'll most likely be poverty spec, or with a fairly random choice of options you may or may not want

I bought my first S8 as a 10yo at 1/7 of its sale price. Looking forward to 2030!

That means you're twice as frugal as I was

I was up at about 1/3rd of list price and 3 years old.
But then I'd been searching for one for ages and the price/availability curve just got close enough for me to bite the bullet.

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Wonder how long fossil fuel infrastructure will be around for, after 2030? I mean, you'd expect another ten years, for people buying a new fossil fuel car in 2029.

I hope electric cars get longer-lasting batteries, because I can't afford a new one and I wonder when buying a ten year old EV, if the battery will be performing at reduced capacity once ten years old.

Maybe 2030 battery tech will be good for 20 years by then.
