I am away from the car for a while, so can’t check the wires. It’s easy to pop off the puddle light and check. There are two wires to minus, most likely the other one comes from the red square light.

My suspicion is that the poor or missing grounding makes the whole system act oddly. Without grounding the relay on passenger footwell clicks, and interior lights and door open-light (on older cars) blink. With grounding all these go away.

Most ground wires on Audi are brown, it does sound like loose connection somewhere

I checked several grounds all seem fine. The thing is, I remove yellow connector on the vacuum module and everything works just fine.

Default Two more observations

Another (likely unhelpful) observation is, if i get the puddles to come on (one out of 8 times), the overhead lights do not turn on. But when I open the door and they do not come on (as is most usual) the overhead lights will come on. Also... anytime I get something going on or off, I get a short relay buzz??? Maybe it's just a darn relay? Sorry, I know this is getting a bit tedious.

Default solved

I finally got a clue and figured out which relay was making noise, the wrong relay was in place. A short 204 was where a tall 624 was supposed to be. All is as it should be now... thanks for all kind attempts to assist.
