Replacing windscreen washer pump
Hi peeps,
I have been searching how to replace the wind screen washer pump, but can't find the answer I need. Can anyone here please advise me how to replace the this part? I have tried from the top, under the bonnet, but can't get to it. My mechanic had a quick look for me (as a favour) and removed the offside wheel and arch liner. Still can't get to it and he now thinks that maybe the bumper needs to come off for access. Is this right? Any advice would be great! Thanks Yas

I did it without removing the bumper.
remove the liner. move the airbox to the side undo the nuts holding the bottle lift the bottle up for access to the pump

Did you have to remove the headlight to lift the bottle up for access?
Just curious...

No - never disturbed the headlamp. the bottle comes up at an angle and needs to be rotated slightly

Are the PF and FL different? I had my PF washer pump replaced and I don't remember the garage saying it was much of a job, they certainly didn't charge me much labour. In fact I had that same pump replaced under warranty by an Audi main dealer and they didn't make a fuss either, I certainly don't remember the bumper being removed.
I borrowed this that Adrian previously shared, confirms what Mike said to a degree

Just removed mine as it was dead, all of a sudden no windscreen washers.
Wanted to remove it so I could check it on the bench to confirm and get the right part number (4A0955651B). Nice amount of rust coloured dribbles coming from it so no wonder it died! New one ordered for £10, only small headache I can see when fitting the new one is the pipe that goes up to the washers themselves. I suspect at least 8 minutes of swearing when the new pump is installed. |
