ASR De-Activation Switch
Need a little D2 knowledge here...
Is this switch the type that when pressed is recessed in a little, then when pressed again is flush with the other buttons? Also, when does the 'ASR' light up, when pressed in or when flush? I have a little electrical project for swmbo's car.

I don't have one to test, but suspect being traction control related, it probably doesn't latch so that when you restart, it is back on by default.
The preface fog light switches were latching though as far as I know, so worst case buy one of them too and swap the faces.... ?

 Yes that does make sense that the traction control wouldn't latch. I'll make do with an extra fog light button installed until the uber rare taxi button comes on ebay. Just trying to solve a first world problem, oem style, to have an on off switch.

I bought a latching switch (from A8parts) for a "little project" as well, let me check what it was and I'll update this post in a minute......
Edit; More research needed, I just remembered that I swapped the cover to a different switch for cosmetic reasons - replacement cap is more appropriate to the functions it's for. I'll get back to you.....

Pretty sure (from my purchase history from A8parts) that it was a hazard light switch.
£11.99: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A8-D2...-/131140489767 I actually put the cap from a rear blind switch on it, the caps swap over easily enough, just clipped on. The bulb inside the hazard switch I'm pretty sure has a separate circuit which I didn't need so it doesn't light up.

Oh that's great knowledge, thanks.
Swapping over the cap seems the way to go. Do you think the top half of the cap could be sanded down to opaque plastic, mask applied, re coloured black, then mask removed to reveal a new icon?

Can't comment on redecorating the cap as I've no experience of such things.
The illuminated ones have transparent/coloured sections in the plastic so it's not too thin. Best to acquire one and have a look. I "invested" in two so that I could swap the caps. Knowing me I'll have the spare bits, somewhere........................

I was fairly certain they are.
When I did the PF to FL dash conversion in a PF D2, they were one of the biggest pains. The FL has a specific module that controls the fog lights, and it performs the latching function. The PF has no such module, the fog light switches effectively directly drive the fog lights. So I had to fit the fog light module, as well as the full switch gear, and rewire....
