Thanks David - I thought alignment would only be needed after changing tierods/ends, which I had done before the lower control arms were flagged on the MOT. Will look into this further.

I read another thread on here about inflating tyre pressures to up to 40PSI also helped (well over the recommended 32PSI for 18" Avus) - this could suggest a wheel balance problem, although again, balancing was done when the tyres where changed before the suspension work was done.

Notorious - the term OEM is sometimes miscontrued with 'Genuine' - i'm assuming you mean Genuine, as both Lemforder and TRW are considered OEM, where OEM are companies that make parts for car manufacturers.

Here is the official list when adjustment needs to be done but I would suggest to have alignment done every time something is replaced on suspension.

Thanks for that - that suggests I don't need to do another alignment but take your point.

I'll get the wheel balancing checked out again and also check the wheels for runout and roundness.

Its a PITA as the car was running fine after the OSF driveshaft and both front wheelbearings were changed - the shimmy was only re-introduced after lower control arms changed on both sides. I also dropped the tyres pressure by several PSI on some of the wheels, so wondering if this is masking a problem.

Strange as the shimmy isn't coming throught the steering wheel, feels like its underneath the car, but no knocks or noises to suggest components are loose

Will add to this my 'wheel bearings or something else' thread as this has gone OT, somewhat!
