Default D3 Pre facelift ACC

As posted elsewhere, my recently acquired pre facelift D3 has ACC cruise control but it's currently not working.

When I try to engage at a slow speed, I get the expected below speed threshold error.

When I try to engage on the motorway, I get "ACC Not Available!".

The DIS screen shows the Adaptive Cruise Control display when pressing the button on the bottom of the wiper stalk.

I did a VCDS scan and it said the sensor requires calibration, now remembering back to when I first posted about this car the lower grill at the front looks just like a normal one. The sensor does appear to be mounted behind a standard lower grill, and not the ones I have seen with a square. Not sure if this is correct on a pre facelift?. if its wrong, can I just replace the grill?.

I believe the part number is 4E0 807 667B 3FZ , but how much from a dealer, guess I need to sit down.

I have had a quick look at the documentation for the ACC and it does not show a different grill. There does not seem to be the same type of insert as in the facelift model.

SSP289 covers the operation but I could only find it in German with a quick look.

This english one shows ACC but also only shows a standard grill on P4

I have another document on my laptop about the ACC but I think that it covers the facelift version.

My PF had the grill with the solid section. Sounds like it's been replaced and not the ACC unit not calibrated properly. Does seem a bit of a fiddly process.
