Great, now I know something I didn't when I started
and before anyone says anything yes the plate should be on the S8 But this was my Dads own plate which he had for years he recently past away and I have vowed to keep it He loved his motors which is where I inherited the petrol bug from Quote:

Yes it works but looks like you may have over-complicated it....

I bought her as a bit of a wreck and spent two years stripping and rebuilding her. The previous owner lost his job in the city and left her under a cover. So she was mouldy and suffering badly.
I have re trimmed the interior from top to bottom and completely re done the bodywork etc. New hood everything replace with stainless fittings and sorted out the TVR electrics Just a few engine mods and a leaky diff to sort and she will be better than when she left blackpool. Oh and when the stainless Y piece gets fitted she will make even more noise. I changed and upgraded many of the TVR irritations and she now even sports TT door mirrors courtesy of A8 parts which look as though they were meant for the car inmho. Goes like a train too My other motor is a 75 Triumph Stag with the original V8 so I have a V8 collection now I will sort a few more pictures when I get chance if anyone is interested http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1505205926

The retrim you've done there looks awesome.
Look after that Triumph V8 they're getting rare now. As you'll know they can get hot. Big misconception was that it is a Rover V8. You have some nice rides

Will add a few more later tonight lads, glad you like her
The seats and interior were sorted for me by two lads that originally worked in the TVR trimming dept. and have set up again in virtually the same place. Proper decent blokes who know their trade. They tell; some great stories about getting models ready for the motor shows. I was really pleased with the work and the smell is to die for every time I get in the drivers seat The carpets were fun about 35 pieces like a large puzzle, I had them leather bound to match the interior and they finish it off well. The Stag I have owned for around 8-9 years now, I have done a fair amount of work and she still needs more but I haven't the heart to take her off the road. Only done around 60K and runs as sweet as, I have every MOT ticket. Most of the overheating was just poor 70's build issues and the fact the water pump is situated at the top of the block so if you loose a bit of coolant (which you can't see as the system is sealed with no visible cue) the water pump is pumping fresh air, cue head gasket failure vast amounts of steam I run a header tank from a ford cosworth on mine a decent electric fan and make sure the system is clean and hey presto she never overheats she makes a lovely burble too although somewhat slower than the other two V8's Back to work more exciting meetings Cheers Glyn

Morning Lads
As promised (a bit late) a few pictures of the classic fleet Hope I have loaded the correctly? The TVR is a 98 450 Chimaera I have owned for three years now. The car was stripped back after a few months and over the next 18 months I replaced/refurbed all the interior and bodywork. Headlights were upgraded using VW Lupo units electrics tidied up there was what can only be described as a rats nest of wiring before She is about to come off the road for some further mods which will involve the removal of the cats and the fitting of the stainless downpipe section in one of the photo's. This should make her sound a bit more serious and hopefully lower the under bonnet temp which is a problem on TVR's big V8 a sodding cat and pre cats in a tight space I am also planning a few other bits of work like sorting the leaky diff which is a bugger to get to on a space frame chassis you need fingers like Liberace She runs lowered suspension nitron shocks and bigger wheels and tyres than standard. Lots of subtle mods to improve the electrics. Shortly after buying her the alarm system fried itself and nearly set fire to dash, I was ready to push her out of the garage scary few minutes! Luckily I managed to get the battery off, but this was in the passenger foot well and not easy to get at. So I have moved that to the boot and she now runs a Odyssey Gel battery and all new cabling The Stag is a 75 mark 2 model I have owned for 7 years now. No road tax and £90 a year to insure. Which makes her the cheapest transport I have I have replaced the floors and various structural sections. Near side sill and inner sills have all been replaced, these old birds do rot well! Eventually I will completely refurbish the body and paint but for now she is perfectly serviceable and runs a treat hasn't failed an MOT in all the years I have owned her. Engine is the original 3 litre V8 and 3 speed Auto. I have original Hard top for her too which is never used. I refurbished the interior a few years back fitted seats from a fiat coupe as the original had seen better days, I still have them and will get them refurbed one day. I completely re veneered and lacquered the dash something I had never done before but that's the great thing about working on classic's you are always learning. I taught myself to weld paint and just about everything else Both of these car were motors I always wanted, as a kid in the 70/80's I loved the Stag and had a girlfriend who's Dad owned a garage which specialised in Stags, he loaned me one and I was hooked. But could never afford one or insure one for that matter. Then in the 90's I always wanted a TVR but with two kids it would have been a job convincing the Mrs But most of all I just love the sound of a V8, still hanker after a Yank V8 too so maybe one day Must get round to writing an update on the S8 as I have now owned her for 6-7 months amazing how time flies. Nicely run in now and always sticks a smile on my face when I press the start button ...or the loud pedal Hope you like the pictures and they have loaded Ok Cheers Glyn

Wot a nice pair of classic cars you've got
Always wanted a TVR, almost bought a 2.9 wedge in the late 80's but couldn't get the funds together at the time. The Stag is a classic design and always liked, but like you, could never afford. (Won't put pics up of my work in pregress project as, compared to yours, is in a very low league, although, like you have learned to weld, paint etc....) Keep them rolling and enjoy.
