I just had a eureka moment! I got the car with a cream interior with intention to change the interior to black, and was looking on German ebay for the most troublesome item, a black LHD dashboard. Now I realise I could just get it sprayed black with plastidip or some vinyl dye!

Just some quick research I did today into dyes:

VHT Vinyl dye
SEM Vinyl dye

Also, for the grab handles they are easy to repaint yourself with high quality Tamiya spray paints, they are synthetic lacquers and have a excellent finish.
I used Tamiya masking tape and a shopping bag to mask the wood effect trim.
This is from the S8 I sold.
The original vinyl covering will come off with some isopropyl alcohol and kitchen paper towels. I didnt bother sanding the hard plastic underneath.
Not perfect but much better than before

Lots of good info/alternatives here. I did mine before I saw the last posts here. As mentioned it is easy just to rub off the vinyl covering stuff leaving an even/smooth surface to repaint. I used a paint called Color Bond which I've also used with very good result on my lower B pillar trims and doorstep trims. See http://www.colorbondpaint.com/
As you can see this stuff can be used to completely change anything in the interior to another color.

Attached my result.

Interesting, you used colorbond, and the guy from this thread who says he has lots of experience recommends colorbond.

I ordered a can of SEM Satin Black from the UK.
I may try it on my rear view mirror, its hard to find one in black on German ebay.

Default Masking

Goran, congratulations on what seems like a very good paint job result. I saw the picture on how you did the masking job and like to mention how I did mine. I used PlastiDip applying 2-3 coats and peeled away the lower part after cutting with a sharp knife in the crack. After the paint job was done I just peeled off the PlastiDip stuff.

My first attempt to repair was using PlastiDip only, but as others say it doesn't take much before it starts peeling if you're not careful. The result may be better if you make a mix of thinner and PlastiDip 1:1, certainly closer to the original touch and feel.
