Default Flat battery - fan staying on !!!

I have had a flat battery twice now in less than a week and i have now noticed that the cause is that the fan (situated under the bonnet in the middle of the bulkhead) is staying on. I have tried taking out all the fuses in the drivers footwell one at a time to switch it off, but to no avail and have now temporarily resorted to removing the negative battery terminal in order to stop the battery going flat. please can someone point me in the right direction to resolve this.

Many Thanks Andy

Hi.

Are you sure, that this fan is not the one that gets energy from solar roof?

Chris.

But if you remove the battery cable, it stops working, does it?

the fuse for the blower fans is not by the drivers footwell, it is under the wooden cover in the passenger footwell. There arent' many fuses in there, which will make it easy to find ! - You are looking for a big 40A fuse, which will be connected inline with thick 4mm cables.

It would be worth looking in there and seeing if there is signs of water/damp as thats the only cause I could think of for this issue. The 'blower controlller' J126 is more than likely some little square device that looks like a relay that will be in there too. It seems to work by regulating the negative connection to the blower fans based on input from the climate module. If this controller were dodgy, and was falsely making a good ground for the blower fans, then they would indeed run all the time irrespective.....

Its a 3pin device, somewhere, but I'm no where near a D2 right now to confirm..
