For Sale Before Trade In - 2006 4.2 TDI Quattro Sport SWB 85k £7400
Looking at trading up, probably a 4E - so before the dealers get a 4.2 TDI D3 to bang a big profit on, I thought I'd see if any forum members wanted a chance - but bear in mind I'm looking at it going soon, very soon as I've seen a few replacements.
2006 Audi A8 4.2 TDI Quattro Sport 85000 miles - full history 2 Keys, First Aid Kit, Warning Triangle etc MOT 19/11/17 Akoya Silver Black Leather Light Birch Wood Trim Usual D3 extras including: 20" 9 Spokes Adaptive Xenons (AFS2) Bose Stereo Keyless Entry/Start - Fingerprint Memory Audi Telephone Handset in Armrest Extended Lighting Package Powered Boot Lid As to be expected a couple of age related marks, most notably the usual plastic boot lid handle lacquer has lifted a bit - a light scuff on the n/s front bumper and light scuffs on the rear bumper. Interior is unmarked, everything as it should be with no warning lights etc. I'm looking for no less than £7400 - which for a 4.2 TDI with 85k miles is a bargain in my opinion. As said though, you'll need to move quick if you want it - otherwise it will be traded in and be up for sale a lot higher - please only show interest if you are genuine though - I don't have time for nothing less. Thank you. Last edited by Charlie; 1st January 2017 at 07:53 PM. |

Not to be rude, but ad without pictures is as good as no ad.
If you are really keen on selling it to a forum member few pictures of interior and few on the outside (covering bad bits as well) is a must. Good luck with the sale

I disagree the ad is no use lol, the ad was put on at this time of night to get anyone's attention who is in the market for such a vehicle - the ad will get photos added, but it's kinda dark just now - so they'll follow for anyone genuinely interested.

Who cares, it makes far less difference than the overall condition and provenance of the car, it definitely should not be a factor in buying or not buying

Logically I agree with what you say, but I still couldn't stomach £500pa in tax for one car Most illogical I know!

It's ok, you do it a few times and it becomes the norm!

I have to agree here with the boys.
I never understood buying the car base on a road tax payment which you make once a year. I've had few conversation over the years with various people about it and I always say that if you can't afford £500 a year then A8 is definitely not the car for you. I know you can Roberto and you mentioned something about greedy government or something like that some time ago and that you refuse to pay them this money, but my view is simple, there is nothing I can do to avoid paying it and for sure taxman won't stop me from driving a great car. When I was selling A8 recently I've had couple of buyers starting the conversation with the road tax cost and BHP's, unfortunately they haven't got to the viewing stage Again, good luck with the sale mate.

I see both sides
If you logically do costs, then its a small dip in the ocean. But i have access to a lot of cars, and don't do many miles, so tax discs are a bit of a killer for hardware sat doing nothing..... Put a bit more cost on fuel and bin the tax disc and I'm a happy man, pay as you go..... Q7 has been used maybe 3 times in the last month, hardly worth its £40+ tax disc, but need 6 seats so got few choices. Tax disc is really quite irrelevant if you have 1 car, and get your mileage value from it. If that's not the case then its bloody irritating having a higher band car sat there chewing money sat still, so Robertos question is a relevant one from my perspective.... I have a D2, 3 C6's, a Q7 and an A2 at the moment and I guarantee the only cars that wont be sorned are the A2 @ £30 / year and Q7 because its the only thing big enough for the family. The rest are on sorn. So, yes, the difference between band k and m might not be *that* much but it adds up.... Grrrrrrrrr....

I think the RFL on the 4.2 TDIs is £500pa. I've not seen any make it in before the March 06 - 06 reg - point at which the higher rate was introduced. I don't think the 4.2 was introduced in time to beat the higher rate coming into force.
I have a 4.0 TDI which is £290 a year. I understand completely what everyone says about it being just an annual cost and a dip in the ocean in the grand scheme of things. I do still arrive at something of a mental roadblock when i encounter the £500 a year band though. Don't know what it is or why but subconsciously it stops me and makes me think. I cannot explain it or rationalize it - but it happens! I know the time will come when I have to overcome this, as I will want / need a newer vehicle which is more likely to fall into this higher rate so I will move my mind passed it eventually. I would say that if the improvements made to the 4.2 TDi over the 4.0 TDi are as impressive as people make them out to be then it'd certainly be worth considering making that leap for though. The fairly low miles on this one have to make it tempting too!
