Mid engine rear wheel drive using front driveshaft output to drive rear wheels?

You can lock centre diff by welding it up or use a gearbox from front wheel drive car or transaxle from Porsche or similar.

It'll work welded up. this is how you get your MK2 estort and Vauxhall Chavette to have LSD diff with out spending money on a LSD diff.

So you want to convert the car to mid engine with rear wheel drive.

Fit a gearbox from a front wheel drive car, I'd recommend the 2.5 V6 tdi gearbox as the ratios would be most suitable for the V8 engines torque.

Default Centre of gravity

I think it really depends on where you want your centre of gravity to balance the engine/gearbox and rear diff...

The engine/gearbox balance each other at the rear lift points...so if you have the engine slightly forward to balance the rear diff you could connect to te rear diff using the rear output shaft of the gearbox and ignore the front output shafts...
