Rare to see the temperature gauge move past 90 degrees
Wow, it has been a scorcher here in NSW, Australia for the last day of the year.
I know that the temperature gauge in the Audis are weighted so that they show as 90 degrees so long as the actual engine temp is within design range (86-105?). It was so hot here today that I have seen the gauge creep to where I have never seen it before. Coolant level is good and thermostat replaced in September 2018, so I am attributing the movement of the needle to that, as I was going slowly in traffic.

Wow, I don't know how anyone can cope in those sort of temperatures!
Even the British summer gets too hot for me, which usually only lasts for a couple of weeks and rarely goes above about 25C.

46 degrees Celsius?? Seriously?? I'm not a big fan (every pun intended) of the cold but that is just outrageous!

Out of interest, where is the sensor responsible for that readout located?

I remember when I was in the UK in summer 2000 and I was staying with my cousin. It was a lovely sunny 30°C one day and he came home from work, flaked out on the couch and said "It's so hot"! I said "this is great, where's your push bike?" 35° is getting "hot". 38° is "stop playing outside". 40°+ is "go find some air conditioning"

The outside air temp sensor sits on a panel that runs forward from under the radiator to the front bumper.
You could probably see it behind the lower centre grille (under the number plate) with a torch.
