Gearbox fluid change with ‘Sport mode’

Hello!

I am in the process of servicing the gearbox and have a question regarding the fill procedure. All the guides talk about running through the gears (R, N, D, 3, 2, 1) but what if you have the later shifter with Sport mode? Should you just do through R, N, D, S, or should you use the Tiptronic shifter to force the box through 1, 2 & 3? Anybody had any experience of this?

The service itself has been fun… one of the two cat-obscured bolts was not for moving, which meant taking off the long cat pipe . That allowed me to hammer an old oversized multi-tooth bit into the rusty leftovers of the bolt and get it out.

It is a fun job removing and (in particular) re-installing that cat pipe… 😊

Just do PRND. S, and indeed 432, are simply software and have no impact on the mechanical stuff in the gearbox. It won't change in tip when stationary anyway.

Installing that cat is a really hateful job. I use a piece of thin card with three holes punched in it to hold the three bolts straight, then once the downpipe is in place and the nuts started the card can be torn out of the gap.

Ah, well that would have been easier than disconnecting the anti-roll bar and dropping the top mount just enough so I could pull out that bit of plastic in the wheel well! I will remember that tip for next time…
