Default A8 D2 4.2 1998 [Now sold]

[Car is now sold]

I'm selling my 1998 4.2 Audi A8. I've owner this car since 2010 and it has done well for me. Mileage is 146,000.

Good points:

MOT'd and serviced in June 2017.
Timing belt replaced in July 2015, with water pump and idlers/tensioner. I have the invoice for £1,279 for this.
Good service history, with 19 services in 19 years and no gap longer than 2 years. All either dealership or specialist (www.barr-tech.com).
A whole lot of stuff on the car works just fine. Brakes, ABS, aircon, power steering, stereo, 6 CD autochanger, central locking, seat adjustment, electric windows are all good.
The engine is good, and all of the fluids stay where they should. The car has never left any fluid in its parking spot.
A lot of the suspension arms are fairly new.
No leaks around the power steering rack and the fuel pump sounds smooth.
Good wheels and tyres.
Both front springs were replaced in my ownership.
Transmission fluid changed in 2012.
Transmission has done fewer miles than the car. It's a second hand unit with around 100,000 miles on it now.
Bodywork is good. Minor marks but still looks fabulous from more than a few feet away. The cream interior with black dashboard top goes well with the colour.
Come with Audi roof bars. These have lost some of their paint and I don't have the keys to prevent them being taken off, but are complete with their rubber pads and work well.
V5C, two keys and many invoices all present.

Bad points:

According to the workshop, the transmission has a slow internal leak between the transmission and front differential. I've managed this by draining fluid excess fluid from the diff and topping up the transmission fluid every 12 months or so.
In VCDS the transmission controller logs fault "17125 - Torque Converter Clutch P0741 - 35-00 - Stuck OFF / No Power being transferred". Info about this fault is here: https://www.obd-codes.com/p0741.
A handful of times after I've brimmed the fuel tank and left the car standing for a week or so, a small amount of petrol (a few tablespoons) has leaked out onto the ground near the fuel filter for the first minute or so after starting. Too rare for me to track it down sadly. I manage this by not brimming the tank.
Passenger side wing mirror slightly discoloured but still working.
Lacquer is peeling off the paint in a few places - see photos.

So the transmission needs occasional TLC to keep it happy but it's never gone into limp mode or similar. The torque converter lock-up problem allows the RPM to rise a few hundred more than you'd expect under acceleration. Apart from that it drives just fine.

Selling as spares or repair due to the fuel leak I can't track down, and I'm thinking around £900 but am flexible.
