1998 (very early) Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec; ABS/TCS, Heated screen/mirrors, Aircon, Auto-dim mirror, Leather, Trip computer, Cruise control, OEM Ford SatNav with CD changer.
And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

Assuming this is resetting the dynamic shift program, I find it odd that it even needs doing tbh. Mine responds very quickly to changes in driving style, and even countryside - it knows when it's in Cornwall for example, and holds on to gears longer on the hilly bits and switches between cruising and hair-on-fire quite easily.

Edit - I wonder if its a difference between early and late software in the TCU?

I would agree that the dynamic adaption occurs over minutes rather than months, so the need to reset it confuses me.

The most dramatic case of the shift pattern adjusting I found pounding a PF S8 through the Yorkshire countryside, so I'd say that if they had it so right back then, then it probably hasn't been fiddled with since.

However - I've long been a believer that the 'S'port setting on the 2002 gear shifters is basically an override to stuff the gearbox ECU into the most aggressive pattern possible immediately, so rather than waiting a few minutes to learn, you can be sporty straight away, so arguably, the need for the dynamic learning is a bit lost from 2002 onwards when all Audis got the Sport box....

I find S mode pretty much negates the need for the tiptronic too. I used to use the buttons all the time in my '99 but in the S8 I just knock it in to 'S' and give it some

S works well for towing too as it stops it changing up as soon as you lift off which can be quite handy at times.

Same here .... pretty much stopped using the buttons when I upgraded to a FL S8 too.

Tip is still useful if you want to change down early for a bit more engine braking (while in 'S'), though the problem with that is you then have to move the selector to get it to go back to full auto, or wait (about a minute is it?) for it to revert back itself.

Thats about the only use I have for the Tip buttons. They also can be used when in "D" as well - if you ever care to be in D rather than S! The interval for reverting to D seems to be much less than a minute tho'.
I am not sure that this re-learning issue isnt a thread about nothing though. Yes, the resetting may well be achieved by the methods described but why bother as it then learns again (and within a few minutes accoriding to IT and MJ) your style of driving on that journey. I'm with MJ on this - if you want some fun stick it in S and if driving Miss Daisy keep it in D. It will soon decide the change points etc for you. Thats why its called DYNAMIC shift programme.

I'm about the same as well, rarely (if ever) use the Tip buttons except for a bit of engine braking. And I'd say 20-30 seconds max before reverting.

If I'm behind something and waiting for an overtaking opportunity I use "S".

Our Volvo also has an "S" mode which is fairly speedy too as it tends to keep the engine speed in a good turbo band.
