Glad to help chaps tyres look a bit low profile so wonder if they're right for our cars

North of Aberdeen though. And fairly priced. Mike's car isn't an 8.

Worth making an offer, plus he might ship the wheels.

Well, from my point of view (selling refurbished bare wheels) it's because there are endless possibilities of disputes about condition. In a private sale that's fraught with risks all round.

I've bought wheels commercially, from our forum sponsors to be precise (that's where I got my five 20" wheels from) and that was fine because:
a) Trusted supplier I've dealt with before who always deal fairly with returns.
b) Condition was described very carefully and fully.
c) Shipped with tyres on for added protection (they were all scrapped anyway) and well-packaged.
d) All needed refurbishing, though in reality a couple also needed straightening, but one (now the spare) wasn't quite so bad and only needed some DIY care and attention so on balance I was happy that I got a fair deal.

You can arrange it yourself. There are plenty of specialist wheel shippers (there's one I've used a few times in Paisley: http://paisleyfreight.com/alloy-wheel-courier.php ).

They currently quote 4 x 18" Alloy Wheels and Tyres £35.75.

If they need refurbishing and have tyres on that will be discarded, having them taped up in a heavy duty bin bag is all the seller needs to do.

As I found out recently, some couriers won't ship them and those that do are bloody expensive. Fortunately, in my case, my local courier driver offered to collect them for me, but you might want to check out AnyVan. Before I decided to use the services of my local courier, I had some quotes as low as £50 from AnyVan to collect and deliver all 4 wheels, complete with tyres (approx 150 miles away and weighing in at around 25KG each).

EDIT: This is the £50 quote I received from AnyVan as an example: http://i.imgur.com/FfVFVCG.jpg

Ive used www.wheelcourier.com a couple of times who have been very good, but recently I think Duffy used Paisley freight to send me some wheels and they got to me extremely well wrapped and in perfect condition

I used these guys last time, mainly as they're more flexible re delivery times/hours. Plus you don't have to wrap them up (ie the seller), as they cover them in a thick blanket like material

They pick them up, store them, and then deliver during a route when they can combine deliveries. All within a 5d or 10d window.
