Try changing the wording in your PH ad.

Key factors:

Remap, more economical, more power than standard etc...

When you click on S8 and the list shows up, your ad shows the wrong wording to entice someone to click on it.

You understand where I'm going with this? The rest of the stuff can come afterwards.

When i put the ad online i didnt think the remap would be a good selling point. I thought people would think i was a "boy racer" and just had the remap done to make it go faster. I have never sold a car privatly before, only ever done a part -ex or just sold to someone that i know. so selling this way is new to me.
what can you recomend i change to make it look better to potential buyers ?

Hi Darren

Not sure if this has been covered, but I advertised my 2.6 A6 on Pistinheads, ebay and Autotrader. The first 2 were hopeless and all I got was either nothing or cons. Autotrader got me a sale eventually.

And you must have one of the best '8s around, so it's just a matter of patience I suspect

It drives spot on and is a great example of an S8... What Ian said is what I did. I Dropped my price as managed to get my replacement car at a good price so the 'price to change' was effectively the same. But I would stick at your price as I think its very realistic.

This is a moving goal post though.

D2's are now very rarely sought for long haul motorway daily drivers, so they've moved to the remit of weekend car / short daily commute.

D3's have plummeted, making D2s look generally overpriced and a little dated spec-wise

Resession is biting, fuel prices are still uncertain and people are migrating away from thirsty petrol motors.

I guess what I'm saying is that its a fair price for that car to an enthusiast that wants one, but that pile of enthusiasts that doesnt already have a D2 is dwindling rapidly imo.

Thus, the only way to start shifting these motors is to make them cheap enough not to resist....

Sorry. Not really what you want to hear, but the longer its for sale, the more it value declines..... as do all of ours....

But the D2 is still the best looking '8 IMHO and, having driven Darren's at the meet last weekend - well, what can I say - it's absolutely perfect! A real thrill to drive, even by S8 standards.

I have had a few offers from people that think i am going to sell it for peanuts, i have had an offer to swap it and i have had somebody ask me more questions than i can remember then just ignore me.
Firstly, I would like to publicly apologise for not getting back in contact with Darren after he answered my questions. I have already sent him an e-mail also. My reasons for not proceeding with Darren's S8 are that the mileage is too high for me, the price is at the top of my budget and I want to have some in reserve for any issues that may arise plus another S8 is on available than appealed to me more. I wish Darren all the best with the sale.

James

Pleased to hear that you're still in the market for an S8 and we look forward to welcoming another 'north of the border' owner when the right one turns up. And, although Darren's is a real beauty, an S8 is a very personal choice, so I hope you find the right one for you soon.

What about the Reading one - is that still on the market?

Jim

i have to say it really is a very personal choice when buying an A8 or S8 i looked at 7 before i chose the one i have now and i was offered 5k in cash there and then for mine by some one i know but you know what .... although i looked far and wide i could not find a replacement that had the same spec to match mine i may be crazy for not selling but i made a careful choice when i handed out my cash and i have not looked back since, i have only adapted what i have to suit my needs and the style i wanted so i started with a good base to work from and overall i smile every time my right foot hits that kick plate, so..... im sure your s8 will sell but if people are like me then they will look at plenty more other than just yours but someone will come along like me after looking at 5 or 6 S8's and decide YES this is the one for me ! so i think if i was you i would stick buy your guns and drop no lower than £5,250 ovno and just wait that bit longer.. rome was not built in a day :-)
