That is nice and would need a few bits doing to it but im quite fussy in that i would like more power and i like black or cream leather, the D3 is slower than the D2 the extra horse power is not justified with the extra kg of the D2 but the W12 is oh so more powerfull and with the prices of the W12 coming as low as 7,995 i would want the full works D3 4.2 for 7k or D3 W12 for 8k ? of course would all depend what i get offered for mine as well

i also looked at this A D3 A8
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3660094.htm

i have infact made him an offer for part exchange and he is very interested and will get back to tomorrow so i may end up with just a standard 4.2 D3 but im sure they are a great car if not better than the D2 ?

Hi mate,

Am actually after an a8 2000-2002 D2 (or 2003 D3) but with LPG.
But both yours (fabulous looking car - better than D3 IMHO) and Psyche's reasonable £6k D3.

I have discarded Psyche's D3 purely the fact its gonna cost me another £2k to add LPG to it.

I have to be honest, I have no plans to buy a non-LPG A8 - but I will PM u just to see if the figures (and the hassle) add-up if the price of your D2+LPG is worth it.

Thks.

There is every chance the tax breaks on LPG will be removed any time soon, so complete waste of money spending out on an LPG conversion now in my opinion.

Just buy a good petrol A8 any enjoy it.

lol - I agree!
Hence I prefer to buy an A8 with LPG!
But, I heard the government need to give 3 years notice to waive the subsidy it is giving to LPG now.
Currently, I have a Subaru Legacy (28mpg), but I do over 40+mpg purely on LPG :-)
But, I want a change and the A8 sounds very nice and on par with my Legacy in terms of power/luxury/toys etc....

Thanks Ranj i will be sad to see her go but after much debate im quite sure the W12 will put a smile on my face, its a bargain of a car really and i dont want to have to break her just to get the money back from the car, i could be tight and sell it with no quads and put the standard 17" wheels back on ect as the quads cost me over 1k and the Rs6 wheels were 400 then putting continental tyres on was not cheap, but im not being greedy for what the car is i have asked for £3,850 ono and to be honest i think its a dam load of car for that kind of money Hands down

Its worth bearing in mind though that upgrades aside, your car is a 1999 early facelift with > 150,000 miles on the clock. This would make it worth significantly less than you're looking for. The spec is good, but not than special for the age.

You may have spent good money on the exhaust and paintjob, but these things never bring any money back, and in my experience the majority of buyers want to buy an original car that hasn't been tweaked.

If you can find a buyer who wants an early facelift, with high miles, a custom paint job and quad exhaust, you might scrape 3K imo. Otherwise you might have to consider dropping it quite a bit to move it on. Anything over 100K miles drops like a stone in value.

Sorry, just trying to help your expectations or you're going to be sat with it for quite some time.... Its a buyers market right now, and anything with a petrol engine is struggling to reach anything like last years values.

Ignore Autotrader prices - Most adverts are overpriced and not selling anything as a result.

On the plus side, any replacement car you buy should have quite some room for movement in price if its a thirsty petrol. Just look at the way the D3 S8's are tumbling.

Buyers market..., sellers market...

Since selling car don't gain me any capital I've got very interesting and unusual strategy -- I never sell cars. Never sold a car in my life. I'm serious. I drive car until I smash it or until someone else writes it off. Purchasing car is big commitment to me. Before choosing a model I do a lot of research. I have multiple requirements, like timeless design, reliability, etc. Once car is purchased I forget about monetary value and depreciation. "To have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part". This strategy is good for morale

In good car everything can be repaired. Except maybe chasis in some circumstances. This strategy allows me to forget about costs and concentrate on genuinely enjoying car ownership. This allows me to never limit myself in taking care of car. Old leather? Well, I will buy new leather. From Audi, not from A8Parts Gearbox dead? No worries, new gearbox, what's the problem? Old paint? Well, we will paint it.

A logical continuation of first principal is the second principle, which is 'F*** Fuel Economy'. I concentrate on rising income, not on cost cutting.

I also think fuel should be much more expensive than it is now. This will remove drivers who don't share my principles from the road as I really hate traffic jam. UK motorway system is far from complete and I don't see any government plans to build more motorways. If there are no plans for new motorways I'm for 5x rise in fuel costs as soon as possible. Too many cost sensitive people on the road Sometimes I sound cynical -- I know, I know

Third principle is that car should be as quiet as possible. Ideal car is limousine. I like exhaust upgrades on other cars, but not on mine.

This is not trolling attempt. I'm just observing people jumping from one car to another every 6 months like grasshoppers and contemplating
