Ahah, that makes sense.

Last tankfull got me 23mpg but I was driving it like an idiot again.

This tankfull, I'm cruising everywhere, using the Tiptronic buttons to shift up at the earliest moment and so far, I'm on 28mpg after 180 miles.

Seriously, why bother with MPG recorded on your DIS, you might as well stick your thumb in the air.

The only MPG figures that should be noted are those calculated manually, do that for 3 tankfuls of mixed driving, then post your results, you'll be surprised if you've come to rely on the DIS

Because the last two fill ups, the DIS (as you call it) has been within 4% of what I'm actually getting when I do a fill up.

First fill up showed 23.5mpg and I got 22.7mpg.

Second fill up showed 23.8mpg and I got 23mpg.

As it's showing 28mpg... I know that I'm getting close to 27mpg.

I keep a record and it's usually out by 3-4% with outlying results around 2% and 5% if I've done very strange journeys that confuse it

That's calculated on a brimmed tank basis

I think during the period when I had no life and used to monitor the economy manually ( ) that mine was around 10% optimistic.

Well this evenings drive up to Leeds managed 28.6mpg.

V boring but I'm not rich so while I have to travel 320 miles this weekend... I'm going to do it as cheaply as possible.
