Default Whats it like....Keyless entry!! A8 Sport 4.2TDI

Typical....sales through its MOT and then 3 days later...keyless entry and the lock buttons on doors spop working intermittently!

Could it be the heat??? only say this as after washing the car it worked, but then failed again after parking up and going back to it.
Keyless start is fine but I changed the keyfob battery's just to be sure and its the same!!

The boot open is the one I miss the most...still works fine if I just use the key fob...

As I'm good with a soldering Iron I'm hoping its just a dry joint on a circuit...but would need to know where the modules are...aerials and control etc...

All help appreciated as usual!!!

I think its heard me talking about getting an RS6/S6 next....

The first thing I would do is to change the battery in the remote. I have had this occur when the battery is getting low but is still ok to plip.

Beyond that if it is happening everywhere, you may be into a control unit, but try the battery first as mine was temperamental on low battery.

You need to pull codes from keyless entry module.

As I already said, changed the Battery's in the Fobs already...its intermittent...
Still using the button start, so once in the car it knows I have a key.
Just want to know where the modules are...
I think I found out there are two aerials in the rear bumper for example!
It either damp a loose connections or a dry joint as it can work perfect then not at all....just need to know where to look????

Thanks

Sounds like the remote unit has probably failed.

You may be getting water in there too, happened to my PF D3.

Default Boo Hoo.....the A8 has gone....

Went into stealers...was water...and the main ECU for Keyless entry!

£2300 later and came out with a clean bill of health!!

Following day Engine check light....then day after DPF Light....then 2 days later Glow plug light flashing...

Guess what....3 days later part exchanged for a 12 month old Vauxhall Antara...

I've only owned two Audi's in my life....fantastic cars when they work and although I know they are up there with the best for reliability I'll not be getting another....as soon as one thing goes....everything goes....its a shame...
Whats also a shame is that it sailed through the MOT and I was looking to get an RS4 for S6....but the Antara will have to do...and then I'll get a "weekend" toy....sumatt old and easy to work on...maybe even another Kit Car!!!

Sounds like a run of bad luck there.

Regardless of the issues with an Audi, I could never see me driving a Vauxhall. And I believe every car has its peculiar bugs.

Gooduck with your new Astra, I hope she serves you well.
