EPB Electronic Parking Brake Connector

I recently had intermittent error messages about the EPB and the VCDS can revealed hall sensor implausible signal, these seemed to disappear for a couple of weeks before coming back with a more servere warning and the EPB stopped applying on the passenger side at which point I got these codes...

I suspected the connector as it had warranty work for this is 2008 listed as wiring repair kit.

After parting the sensor tonight it was wet and corroded inside.





So I used lots of solvent and a tooth brush to clean it up and applied sealer to the inside of a bellow/boot I suspected was not watertight and sprayed some contact lubricant inside. After trying to plug it back together it just wouldn't click together. I tried for an hour and it would seem the orange silicone gasket inside is way too fat or has swollen due to my use of various solvents. In the end, it got damaged by the purple part and brute force.

It was a bit of a botch in the end, as I had to trim the gasket's depth, use some silicone sealer on it and some white waterproof grease. I hope it holds, but just posting to see if I missed an obvious trick with the connector, or maybe the dealer use incompatible parts when they repaired it. I'll probably get new connectors and boots next time I'm at TPS.

Anyway, after clearing codes, cycling the epbrake and adapting pad thickness, the codes stayed away. I think they are classed as static codes and there is a procedure to clear these which I forgot so just tried all the above.

Anyway, I hope this is useful if anyone gets EPB problems, to check the connector before taking the car in.

My EPB warning light came on yesterday evening. Had a bit of a search and came across this thread. Got into work this morning and cleaned up the connectors on both sides, sprayed some contact cleaner and hey presto the warning light is now gone.

This forum is a wealth of information, full of very helpful people. I have been a member on here since long before I bought my D3 A8 and am glad it's here for all to see.
