Default Any way of telling if the lights are on?

It's been a few months into my D3 ownership and the only thing that is bugging me is that I can't easily tell if the lights are on or not. I have the DRL set to on and the lights set to Auto so I will always have some lighting at the front. When driving in low light I often wonder if the Auto lights have triggered and if my rear lights are on.

Is there something I'm missing? On my previous car with auto lights there was a little green message on the dash that showed if the lights were on.

If using the satnav, it switches to night colours when the lights are on.

I'm unsure if anything else changes, like the dial illumination, I think it may, but not sure.

When in auto and lights haven't come on, the headlight light switch only has auto illuminated.
When the auto lights come on, all positions light up.

See if only your needles are lit until auto lights come on and then the dials light up too.
I think that's how's mine is but usually I just check the headlight switch has a green symbol.

I've always used the satnav, which can be inconvenient, so It's good to hear about the headlight switch

And if it's dark, and you can still see the dash, then the lights are on. The D3 darkens the dash as it gets dark outside until you put the lights on.

D2 does the same. Facelift for sure, can't recall if PF does as well though I suspect not.

In my PF car, when the lights are in auto, and the headlights are on, the instrument cluster shows the green park light lamp. The headlight switch park light indicator also changes from red to green.

Interestingly my mate with a Fl car hasn't got this. And, I have the same series J519 module as mine has been updated to retrofit the rain/light sensor
