It does have the Air Suspension, and also the MMI menu system is a colour screen. I have been told that the car has the internal hard drive built in to it, although I've never used this as I've never worked out how it use it. It has got the six disc changer in the glove box and assumedly one somewhere else for the disc to go for the SatNav as this in not in the front changer.

I have attached to this message the Chassis number and the roof colour code, Axel code and various other order details for those interested to know what the car is.

Regards.

Model: MY 2008 08 3.0TDI Quattro Sport, Black on Black (Transporter Edition) Lowered 60mm on drop link bars. Alloys swapped out to RS6 style 20" x 9.5". It's got full tints on all windows, and has the black leather interior. Remapped by Elite Automotive in Cornwall, giving an increase output to 290bhp/450lbs.

Options: Keyless Entry & Start, Bluetooth Hands Free, Quad Zone Climate, 3 Spoke Sports Tiptronic Multi Function Steering Wheel, Black Leather Comfort Seats, AMI, Drivers & Passenger Electric Memory Seats, Auto Dimming Mirrors, Bi-Xenons.

Future Plans:
Selling my current Audi A8 Quattro Sport and replace is with a newer D4 Audi A8L with the 4.2V8 Twin Turbo setup once again it must be black. I'm looking for one with the options added where it has the rear recliing seats, with heated outers. Bose speakers minimum and B&O's if affordable. Rear and back door sun blinds prefered.

Planned Mods:
Upon the arrival of my A8L D4, I will be once again having the ECU remapped to a performance setting over economy. Rear Tints as dark as can go whilst also tinting the front windows with a medium tint. Once again I will be purchasing lowering links for the air ride suspension and setting it at 55mm lower when in comfort as my desire rideheight over standard. Alloys will be 21" however the one current most likly to be the next car already has a brand new set of 2016 S8Plus wheels on it.

I can't understand why you would pay for someone failing to fix what they were supposed to fix. I mean, where's the incentive for them to actually do that job if they can just **** about and then suggest, what is in effect wrecking your car to get bonnet open, once they are bored with messing around, or have another, more profitable, call to make.
The hit to fix it will almost certainly be less than the hit you'll take on your cars resale value with it unfixed.
I can understand your disillusionment, you've been taken advantage of. But have faith, not all dealers/mechanics are crooks. Ask around and take your car to whoever is trusted by the people you know.
Perhaps a little online research will point you to the solution.
Good luck with it and, far more important, good luck with the health issues.
Hi Mate,

I hear every word that you are saying... I've had three separate experiences with the main dealer, and if you check through my previous posts then you will see my sheer frustrations of dealing with them. I had a ballast go out on the car meaning I lost one if the D2s bulbs and I took it to them then. I had a fault code diagnostics done on the car before hand, and handed this to them with all the replacement parts provided, for all the bits that could be wrong, I took them replacement bulbs, replacement ignitghters, and they had a ballast pack for my car on the shelf for £350 which I was prepared to pay so that I can have correct lighting to get to the airport 300 miles away... I was sat their for a little over five hours, with my partners 9 year old. Only to be told that they, have charged me £60 and gave me a full diagnostics (remembering I gave that to them when I left it there and sat in their waiting area) After the four hour point I was told that they couldn't fix the headlamps as they were not the ones supposed to be in the car, to which I replied Neither is the drivers one, but that's lit up perfectly, just make the passenger side light exactly the same as that one and as it had been before it went out. They took it for another hour and returned It to me with my rather impatient 9 year old asking are we going yet... at this point I was told still couldn't get it working. I asked was it is a bulb gone, the ignighter, maybe a fuse? You have checked the fuse?? Yet the Service Manager couldn't even say what bots the technician had ruled out... all I was offered was £2,300 bill for supplying and fitting the correct headlamps and that their was nothing else that they could do!

The second visit was worse as they did a second look and still came to the same conclusion after taking my £60 half hour check which told me my tyres were fine... and this time was just two hours, and despair saying it can't be that difficult to get the headlights illuminated... I left in temper, only to notice my handbrake light flashing and wouldn't engage. So I go back in and speak to them saying why is my handbrake no longer working? to which they replied we don't know... This was also at the end of the day so have me the usual, we have nobody to look at it now... but the receptionist going seen my frustrations and she spoke to the service manager who kindly tried to sort something out as I didn't want to drive when my handbrake possibly brakes were no longer talking to the car... but no service loan car was available for two weeks and there was no option but to leave with it and have it collected the following morning.

They did collect and the car was with them three days and I said to them please fix everything, lights, handbrake fault knowing that they caused the problems hoping for them to reactivate or what ever. a sensor needed switching, a side light bulb... and at half past four on the third day hoping to get a modest to large bill of a complete list of ticked of items of repairs, all I got was a bill for £270 @ 70% of retail for the hand brake module which wasn't broken when I took it to them but now was, and at the end of the third day, not a single other thing was done, no headlamps fixed, not even the side light bulb was done, no sensor swap... nothing more than the handbrake that they broke the time before. I had a long discussion with the Service manager to no avail, and paid the near £300 bill for a handbrake module and went else where for the work to be done.

a non Audi specialist checked the bulbs and the ignighters, wiring and fuse... and found it to be a Ballast pack and they fitted the one that I supplied for less that sixty quid and changed all of the bulbs to uprated ones at the same time. at last a result"! However these guys are the last people to have the bonnet open and they have since tried to open it and said no go. and since then I've taken it to another reputable Audi known guy who also said he couldn't get it sorted.

as I said with health the way it is Cancer three times survived, arthritis and about to have major operations to repair damage to my throat and jaw for radiation damage, and the three days I was without my car from Audi became a problem for me personally, hence why going back to Motability and a cars in warranty I feel is the way for me, I'm no mechanic so only have the option of the professionals and after reading my experience with them, I'd rather offer it here to you guys, clearly knowledgeable and capable who no doubt could do the job with little problems, but I still need the use of a full time car and despite being just over five years old she has already had a few days off the road being at various garages and this I can not manage with.

Regards,

Mark.

I noticed the rear number plate holder and never gave it a second thought, the original registration plate is long gone as this has had a couple of cherish plates on it now.

I suppose you were unaware of this OP ..
Thanks for the checks buddy, no I was aware initially of some parts being changed, however the amount of parts has become a little bit of an untruth as I was unaware that they included the headlamps at the time. All of the engine and internal components are original to the car, radiator is about five years old, same age as the car so I just wished the previous seller was honest enough to tell me that the headlamps were also included in his repair bill, but I don't suspect for one minute he was ever aware of them being the wrong ones or indeed that there were five sets to choose from on a 2008 built Audi a8 Quattro Sport.

The broken cable, is not broken from what I've been told... it just won't release using the pliers method... and what with dealing with the lights the bonnet had been opened dozens of times without a single issue. It's not worked since the headlights have and I'm have expecting when I eventually get in there to find that they failed to hook up that bonnet catch when the change the bulbs for me in the lights... Obviously getting them to admit that with the bonnet still closed is impossible, a photograph once it is will be a different matter.

Sorry for the absence in replying and also apologies for the amount and length of replies tonight. Hopefully that will answer a great deal of the questions asked regarding the problem I'm having and also with the dealer issues I've also had. Hope this has helped those trying to sort my bonnet issue and also those who wish to show further interest in my car.

Obviously if there is anyone on this forum confident to be able to help with my bonnet issue, either they can get it open I'm more than happy to pay someone who could do this as I'm well aware a car with a bonnet the doesn't open is not an easy sell, but through sheer frustration with dealers and sheer desperation of needing to keep moving for health reasons it was the most obvious option I had open to me at the time of posting.

Regards,

Mark.

Just in case anyone was interested the car is doing about 36.4 miles per gallon on my mixed driving, a fair amount of town work and the then long blasts to about 13 miles away to Hospital and returns, so it's giving good fuel consumption. it's never been mapped although when I originally bought it this was on the cards, and if I were to keep it then still would be as the option of 275 bhp appeals greatly to me.

I think I did mention that the engine has only done 77,000 miles, Audi have verified this as I asked them to check and their computers confirm that over the years they have seen it that they know this to be true.

Regards

Mark.

Mark thanks for the replies and i am sorry to hear about your personal health and hope it improves.

Unfortunately, i no longer have an interest as the car is cat D and has not been rebuilt with the correct parts.

You would do well in future to highlight the cat D before prospective buyers find out, as it does not bode well for your credibility, albeit an innocent emission.

Why are you so keen to buy a Cat D which will all be but impossible to either sell or sell on at a decent value ? I could understand if the car was 10years + and had depreciated all it could (largley) but on an 08 plate unless you get a massive discount then surely not worth it, but who i am to speculate about what makes sense for you of course

I suspect that is the angle Roberto would be coming at.

And to be fair, a Cat D A8 with pre facelift front end and broken bonnet is worth more to someone on here than anywhere else.

So yes, I expect it will sell cheap, but the seller will probably get the best price and for someone who can see past those faults, there is a nice enough car hiding under there....

99% of people will run a mile from an 08 CAT D unless you are into breaking A8s, then perhaps a reasonable proposition However if i was a taxi driver and planning to run it into the ground, it may be a good buy for me.
