Default petrol gauge no longer reads

my 3.7FL 2000 hasn't been used for a couple of years ; just start it up and warm the engine from time to time

now going to put it back on the road , started perfectly , all looks ok except the petrol gauge doesn't move ! press the check light button and that doesn't say it's low on fuel

scanning some back threads here it seems that dodgy fuel gauges are not unknown on D2's ,so have decided that I should make the 20Km to the petrol station ok , then half fill the tank to see if that produces movement on the gauge

does that sound like a plan ?

That would seem a good start. I assume the needle stays in the "parked" position? How much fuel do you think is in there?

I do remember deciding to leave it fairly low as petrol loses it's ommph over time , so less than a quarter I guess

just the sort of fix I love!
