Cheers!

In or close to the National Park - we'll fit in the adventures around the hotel base!

Not sure if it's close enough but how about hiring a venue? It's suggesting £1,950 for the three nights with additional catering options.

Be good to make my way along to one

Somewhere like this country hotel near Cromford might make a good base, if available and not too expensive: http://www.alison-house-hotel.co.uk/

Finally: gone, but not forgotten.....
1998 D2 PF S8. AgateGrey/Platinum. Every option (I think) except electric rear seats, tiptronic steering wheel, ski hatch, towbar & dimming door mirrors.
e.g. Cruise control, NavPlus/TV, Bose, GSM, Xenons, Solar roof, Parking sensors, Alcantara/leather everywhere of course. (internal dimming mirror added later)

And before that a lot of Rover 800s, a few oddities, a lovely Triumph Dolomite 1850HL with Overdrive and way back in my schooldays an Austin Seven aka Mini 850!

A venue is an idea well worth following up - thanks. This one is too small (20 adults max) but it looks fantastic and not a bad price for the standard of accommodation.

I agree - a great idea, and it's an area which tends to lend itself to having quite a lot of that sort of accommodation: I've stayed in several similar (but slightly too small... places of that type over the years for big family gatherings). I think it would also suit the spirit of the sort of gathering that we're looking for...

We have a venue! Mark found a hotel with plenty of parking and 25 double rooms that are on hold especially for us. Just north of the Peak District National Park (and I mean only just!) and close to some of the roads and 'attractions' that we were hoping to include. I went to check it out today and, apart from a few cockroaches, a bit of damp and crusty bed linen, it wasn't too bad (only joking folks!).

Full details will be posted tomorrow, complete with a 'booking password' and pricing, so make sure to check out the forum tomorrow and make your booking ASAP. The rooms will be held for a month and then, if we've not booked all the rooms by that time, they'll be back on the market to all-comers and you might have to stay elsewhere.

There are a couple of ground floor rooms with facilities for disabled people and a couple with a double sofa bed in addition to the main double bed. There are also a few rooms that are pet friendly and just one twin room. All others are en-suite doubles. Of course, there are now just 23 rooms, as Mark and I have booked already!
