Default Engine Wobble/Shake after starting - Warm engine

A8 3.0tdi - I sometimes get an engine wobble upon starting up combined with shudder. Seems to happen more when engine is warm. I filled up at fuel station today, then got the wobble/shudder after starting. No warning lights on dash. Runs fine after the wobble is over.

I have noticed a fault code with my EGR - Insufficient flow. Could this be linked?

Could this be timing chain rattle due to tensioners? It doesn't sound like a rattle.

I have an economy remap on ECU at the moment.

Any comments would be much appreciated.

Where did you get the remap, and did the problem start before or after the remap?

I got the remap at my local independent. Not sure the name of software supplier. Never asked. I first got the performance remap last year December.

I remember the engine doing this sometimes back then. I had the performance remap removed to try the factory ECU settings with my new injectors to see if MPG improved. I did not experience this wobble anytime with the factory engine ECU settings. Not that I can remember.

I ran the factory ECU from February 2013 - November 2013.

I recently got the economy remap installed to test MPG vs factory ECU settings.

This wobble has become more noticeable since economy remap was applied mid November.

It only happens when engine is hot and I start the car. There has been a consistent wobble/stutter the last 2-3 days after starting when engine is hot.

Never has this happened with cold engine since latest remap.

I have a feeling i could be the remap affecting things.

I did recently service my car and changed the fuel filter but everything runs fine so don't think it's that.

Sounds like the remap might not be handling a warm start properly. They should take it back off for free and at least you can verify with factory settings..

Yes I will do this and verify with factory ECU. I paid for the remap once. They say this entitles me to get any software update for free. Already had a gearbox software update with them.
