Hi
Current wheels are the original sport 5 spoke design

9" width with ET of 44
part number 4E0 601 025 AD

I have a couple of them with slight buckles, only found after I had them re-furbished at a bodyshop.
The tyre fitter noticed the damaged when balancing them up so one is the spare the other on the back at the mo. I have been considering my options as the tyres are needing to be replaced all round now. The wheels I was looking at are from an RS4 convertible so I assume they will take the weight of the 8 as those convertibles are fairly weighty!

It's annoying as my current wheels are all free of marks or curbing so look spot on, even the spare as I had that done too! I would have liked to be able to move the wheels around the car to even up the tyre wear but impossible with a buckle to use on the front. I can't notice it on the rear through the body tbh.
Sat waiting for the windscreen fitter at the moment......so more fun

Thanks for you help

Same wheels as I had on my car then so the figures I posted are the same. Personally I wouldn't put 10mm spacers on, I think the 9J wheels sat out a little too far and the 8.5J wheels look better

Thanks for the info
I'll see how the bidding goes on them, I did have another set offered for a good price with and et of 35. I assume these would foul something as they are inset further if my understand is correct

Current Wheel Specs
Width 9" Offset 44 mm

New Wheel Specs
Width 8.5" Offset 35mm

Results
Inner clearance 15mm more (This means the wheel is 15mm further away from the suspension on the inside)

Outer position 3mm further out (This means your wheel will sit out 3mm further out on the outside edge) (would be a bit too much I think)

All this is assuming that the wheels are 8.5J rims

well hold on a minute. . . is 3 mm further out the end of the world? how much of a gap do you have between the back of the arches and the outside edge of the rubber at the moment?

But you just said hes switching from 9's to 8.5's
Is this an "in your opinion" looks thing or are you saying he doesnt actually have enough clearance though because all I was saying was that 3mm isnt a huge amount of difference for a wheel to move outwards. .

The 9J is close to the edge, in my opinion and without sticking my 9J wheels on it would be a vey close call as to whether it fitted or not. Maybe Glync could measure as he still has the 9J wheels on his car
