Default Sat nav drive locked (or faulty?)

Another one from me.

I have now updated the FW on my acquisition to 5570. And I have a 2014 sat nav disc.

But my sat nav drive will not eject the disc that is in there. There are two illuminated red lights on on, at the left and right ends of the disc entry point.

I understand that these drives can be locked or unlocked with Vag-com. The guys who removed the subwoofer from the boot had vag-com (and was familiar with the concept of the sat nav drive being locked) but couldn't unlock the drive - they ended up assuming there must be no disc in it, until I showed them the sat nav in operation.

The local Audi dealer has just told me over the phone, in response to my explanation of what's up, that "there's a fault with the drive and we'd need to spend an hour investigating it for £99".

Really?

Sounds balls to me, but then again, how hard can it be to unlock a drive - maybe there is a fault.

Ideas?

Where are you based? Someone with VCDS might be able to help double check it is locked. Might be worth putting it in transport mode to lock the drive, then undoing it, in case it's somehow got confused.

It might be possible to take the drive apart and eject the disc manually, but my track record of doing that is 1-0 and I have a bust 6 disc CD changer here to prove it lol

Try rebooting the MMI system and then, before launching Sat Nav again, try to eject the disk. Solved the problem for me

If MMI reset won't help then it is more likely locked by Audi from new and disk inside was never changed.
They think this will stop us from ''doing things'' ,

Then you will need VCDS unfortunately, its literally 10sec job, plus another 10sec to change the settings to drive being unlocked at all times

Tried the reboot with no success. Thought I had bagged VCDS on eBay but the seller has since decided to cancel the transaction! Trying to find out WTF is going on...

Is there really a point getting off eBay, they sell almost for the same price what new ones from Gendan (£263)
And no matter how you look at it, you will get your money back within first 2-3 times you use it base on Audi charges.
And it looks like VCDS is your only option now

You need vagcom to unlock, but i have also seen times when this doesnt seem to work. However, you can also force an eject via vagcom which will net you the desired result....
