Default Phatbox

Gave up the idea of of RNS-E and bought a Phatbox on ebay, so waiting for that to arrive.

IIRC there was a Phatbox expert on here (was it PsYcHe?) and I wondered what I can expect from a Phatbox/RNS-D installation. I assume at least the ability to play 6 playlists instead of 6 CDs, but will it do better than that?

And what do you see in the display? Just "CD 3, track 7" or more information than that?

Phatbox

You can stuff the HDD with music and it's still not the greatest solution (you just get CDx Track yy), it's much better assuming the voice tags work.

The software is crap, but there is stuff out there to make it work, and to allow you to stick a bigger HDD in, I never got round to it, but 140Gb drives were about 30 quid at the time.

You can create playlists, and each CD has a function, so one is to go via playlists, one for artist, one by album, etc, etc. But if the voice tags are working, then it's easy.

I have had one in my S8 for years.

Great way to keep lots of music in your car (9500 songs on mine) but bloody awkward to choose/select/change tracks.

Much easier to sort your music into playlists and just pick one to play all he way through.

My 80GB HDD has thrown a wobbly and I was wondering if some kind soul out there might be able to let me have a copy of the files on the root to see if I can recover mine?

Thanks & kind regards,

Glynn,

I can send you the disc image (in .GHO format) if you can get hold of a copy of Semantic(?) Ghost. The phatnoise is a bit arsey if you copy the files and then try to create the boot disc (from what I remember) it's a lot happier transferring the image onto the new drive.

PM me if it will help you out.

Steve

There's a phathack tool for creating new drives too.
