Pi$$ed off with Parrot
Just spent 4 hours btransfering my Parrot BT kit from PF S8 (Concert non bose) to my FL S8 (RNS-D with Bose) but can I get the thing talking!!!!!
The parrot site says they should just wire up, but no; Ooooo no!  The pin outs for the RNS-D are here The wiring diagram for the parrot is here The RNSD doesn't have the second ISO connector for the speakers but uses the line out to the amp. The problem is that when I spliced in the line outs from the parrot (the two cables with an X through them, if I used the mute facility I couldn't hear anything as the mute seems to mute the Bose amp. I I switch the mute off it all works except the radio keeps playing. Not to bad with the Tom Tom, but a pain with audio streaming (2 songs at once) and a real pain when using the phone! Anyone any ideas?

I do not know how You are wiring it but I would connect line out to TEL-in and MUTE to Tel-MUTE

With the RNS-D, you are supposed to feed the 'speaker' output from any aftermarket phone kit into the 'Tel +' and 'Tel -' connection in the 'display block' connector. If you have a factory phone, these pins are already in use, just splice into them.
Then, you use the mute wire, and when mute is activated, whatever sound is put through the Tel in will be sent out properly through the Bose amp..

Missed this thread for some reason... That's the setup we had in the wife's passat years ago, the other good thing is the RNS woudl then control the phone speaker volume too.

Finally got to the bottom of this.
 Looks like my all singing, all dancing Parrot BT kit is not able to provide a full range of services into RNSD!The kit has the ability to attach your iPod/media player, has a slot for an SD card and play music over BT from your phone/TomTom etc. Unfortunately, the mute wire mutes the Bose Amp, center left pin in the 'Line Out' block so any feed that need the amp to play gets muted. That includes the parrot kit! I got round it when I remembered that in a PF set up there was an extra speaker in the bottom of the B pillar. I then wired a small speaker to the speaker symbols in the center block and hay presto. Phone and tomTom instructions are now available, the radio/CD/TV are muted. However, medi being played also mutes the Bose and only plays of the extra little speaker. I'm now thinking of taking the line outs from the parrot and feeding them into the CD L & R. I can disable mute on streaming which would mean that the TomTom lady would talk over whatever I'm listening to but the phone would then not mute............... Bugger!

Oh, so you're not fitting a handfree phone kit, you're trying to be a mobile DJ... that alters things
I've seen this problem before. The phone input on the RNS-D is mono, and totally not up to the job of taking decent quality music in for reproduction through the bose. Butchering the CD line in wont work for the phone as you say, so the only real answer is to make yourself a custom relay board, which is driven by the mute wire from the parrot, so that it switches the bose amp line inputs between either the parrot line out, or the RNS-D line out depending on which source you want to listen to..... If the parrot only has a speaker out and no line out, you'll have to reduce the volume significantly so that it doesnt distort when its played through the bose amp... This is similar to how my D3 works as it has an aftermarket parrot in it, and it has a special wiring loom by the Bose amp which effectively switches the speakers between parrot and the MMI. On the D3, all inputs are digital over fiber, so it cant be switched at the line in stage like yours can....

I fitted my Parrot MK9100 to my S8 with RNS-D & Bose. bluetoothcarkitdirect.co.uk do an adaptor lead for around £70. The module allows you to adjust the gain signal going to the amp too. Can't seem to find it on their website now but they are super helpful if you give them a call.
