Hi Brian
Yep, my RNS-E has SD card slots, so for me that feature of the connects2 unit isn't useful. What I mainly hate about it is that it doesn't give full ipod control, despite a USB connection - it acts just the same as the SD card slot and just looks for folders. It also can't charge your ipod while using the line out option, which does allow you to play an ipod. Still can't control it from the head unit though. If you're happy to live with its limitations then it's an OK option, but for me I expected it to be more capable than it is given I have RNS-E for easy SD card use. Adrian |

Ahh I see, as I have still have the "D" and only want to be able to use an SD card controlled via the head unit sounds like it might work better for me then?
Give me a shout if you ever get round to selling it please

Start here
http://forum.phathack.com/index.php It'll tell you everything you need to know. The Phatbox comes with a 20 gig drive which is OK if you're just playing mp3s but if you want to play other formats (FLAC, AAC, OGG etc) 20 gig runs out quite quickly. It installs modified firmware onto the box to enable the 'non original' formatted drive to be read. It will also flash the correct firmware for your head unit to the 'box (I think it's Audi Native 7.2 but probably wrong). Phathack Media Manager is now a stable release and is far superior to the media manager on the phatnoise disc. I'm not an expert by any means but mine has been installed (and hacked) for 2 years and still works OK. |
