A8 4E Extra pink/white wire on battery +ve

Does anyone know what the extra pink/white wire on battery +ve is for?
I thought it was for some botched retrofit but I see A8s on the internet with the same wire, such as here...

Does that not feed to the power management unit?

Thanks, you must be right. I just changed the battery and on closer inspection, it looks factory-fit.
